What's an example to tell a six year old what a hypocrite is?

One of the kids I babysit asked me what a hypocrite is. God only knows where he heard that from. Anyway, how can I explain it to him?

Like when he says "Can I have a cookie?" and you say "No, they're bad for you" then you shove one in your mouth haha :-)

1.
a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, especially a person whose actions belie stated beliefs.

Hm... I understand that, yes, but I don't think a six year old would quite understand. :)

essentially, in simple terms, a hypocrite is someone who does the exact opposite of what they say they do. Or acts like the exact opposite of who they say they are. Essentially, a hypocrite is someone who pretends to be good when they are actually bad. Also, they probably heard it from the Bible, Jesus uses the term hypocrite numerous times throughout the Gospels.

Just simply give them the basic dictionary definition and leave it at that.

"You say to someone to do one thing, but when it is your turn, you do the opposite."

It's like saying: "Barney is stupid", and then walking into your room with Barney posters, a big barney costume, and the whole cast of Barney and Friends in your closet...lol:]

An example...
When I hear some youngsters (younger than me, that is) using foul language I'm usually like "Watch yer f***in mouths", or something along those lines

Expecting someone to do or act a certain way because that's how people will judge them .. yet you wouldn't or don't do yourself.

Like if you encourage someone to always tell the truth and never lie because telling the truth is always better ... but, you don't tell the truth yourself .. THAT would be hypocritical.
