How are solving equations and solving inequalities the same?

Report as

The strategy for solving them is the same: isolate your unknown on one side and everything else on the other. You can perform any operation you like as long as you do it equally on both sides. There is one main difference: if you multiply or divide an equality by a negative number you need to reverse the sign. e.g. -6 < -3 multiply both sides by (-1) 6 > 3.
