Static shock from my iPod touch 5g ear phones?

I have been shocked about 6 times now, all of them happened today. It was when I was folding laundry, and it would shock me right in my ear. It was so freaky I would jump a couple feet in the air and yelp or even rip them out because it scared me so much. Does this happen to anybody else? Could there be something wrong with mine? I just got the iPod last Wednesday, so the headphones haven't even been used a full week.

I just looked it up. Apple warned about it and it is because of a build up of static electricity. Copy and paste this link: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-10245065-37.html

I cannot stand loud music, so I usually keep them somewhere in the first third of the sound level. I don't know if that is still loud? Do you think trying a different set of headphones would work because I have others I just happened to be using them.
