Is this a metaphor?

being a prisoner

No, a metaphor places a person or object with something real, but not likely to be paired with it. So, he drowned in a sea of grief. Seas are real, but a man will not actually be in a sea due to grieving. He is the light of my life. Lights are real, but he is not a physical light.

No. The sentence is not comparing the prisoner to anything.
