Ask her what she likes. Or because she is homeless, she can live in your house.

You Are Not Alone by Lynne Hughes
....and let her know that she has you, and no matter what happened and whatever her relationship was with her parents, they love her and they are always watching over her. Tell her to be strong.

I personally think you should look into the Chicken Soup books... Or any fiction book that is not too mature for her age group. Just reading any book could help get her mind off things and give her a little place to go and forget about what is really going on. I don't have the best home life, and I knew I could always go to my grandma and she would always be there for me. Just knowing that she can come to you for anything could mean more to her than anything else you could give her. Don't be overbearing, but let her know that you are there for her, and if you are younger/still live at home, see if your parents would be willing to talk to her. Having a motherly/parental figure is crucial for anyone going through a tough time.

The Book Thief
Author: Markus Zusak

It?s just a small story really, about among other things: a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery....

Narrated by Death, Markus Zusak?s groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a young foster girl living outside of Munich in Nazi Germany. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can?t resist ? books. Soon she is stealing books from Nazi book-burnings, the mayor's wife's library, wherever they are to be found.

With the help of her accordion-playing foster father, Liesel learns to read and shares her stolen books with her neighbors during bombing raids, as well as with the Jewish man hidden in her basement.

This is an unforgettable story about the ability of books to feed the soul.

Alice in Wonderland, by Lewis Carol
(Sorry if I spelled the author's name wrong) but yeah, it's my favorite book ever. It will really get her mind off things and bring her into another world.

Tell her to spend time in the library. There are plenty of ways to escape there.
