Who had greater MUSICAL success after the Beatles broke up ? John Lennon or Paul McCartney ?

I know John was more successfull up until his murder . has Paul ever caught up ?

Of course Paul is still doing things ( sadly).....but Johns music still lives and keeps up to this day while he's gone. I personally think John has more success from beyond the grave.

If I was confined to pick from those two, it would be John Lennon.

However, both were outdone at the time by Ringo Starr. Paul was busy launching Mary Hopkin, Badfinger, and other bands rather than doing much of his own music. He eventually formed Wings, but much later than this period.

George Harrison should get billing equal to Ringo with his hit album All Things Must Pass. George was also doing better than either John or Paul.

I'd say Paul. He's still doing things.

Went to girlfriends parents house. Pretty uneventful. I don't usually go out. Too many drunken idiots.

Yeah.....the cops were out in FULL FORCE around here......we have a pretty big St. Paddy's Parade in downtown Buffalo every year.....I'm not sure how many people estimatedly show up, but the streets are PACKED literally elbow to elbow....I went down there for the parade ONCE and I don't think I'll ever go again....it was just friggin overwhelming....

All four of the Beatles did good work after the Beatles, but not equal to their work as the Beatles.

Definitely John Lennon Though his life was cut short by an assassin...
His writing and composition
was far beyond anything
Paul McCartney has been able to match.. But let us not forget the brilliance of George Harrison
His musical impact on bringing world music out of obscurity is unpresidented

That's a great age! I should know! lol
Me too on the albums and 45's too
I would have guessed that was your ringtone! :)
The truth is... John Lennon's lyrics and ideas have always had a large impact on my own thoughts and ideas..
Always have I suppose.
Now I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round..
I really live to watch them roll

blades, you should check out the 1988 documentary entitled, "Imagine: John Lennon". Filmmaker, Andrew Solt, used archival film footage and interviews to create an in-depth profile of John Lennon as a songwriter, musician, activist and idealist. I have it recorded on my DVR and it is quite amazing.

John Lennon, His genius shown through in later life and his recordings were of a more philosophical nature. He always was more visible in worthwhile endeavors and charity events. Paul was OK but his work was somewhat Blaise, albums like "McCartney" were pretty mediocre in my opinion. Lennon shined.
