Why did my bulldog just growl and then snap at my 10 year old nephew...does this mean he is untrustworthy and too aggressive as a family pet
the dog is 2 yrs old. never did this before, i have my nephews over a lot. (no school today, snow) the dog usually plays hide-and-seek and loves kids. today he started to growl at the boy then when he tried to pet his head he snapped like a alligator at his hand. i had to lock the dog outside until the kids mother picked them up. the boys have a dog of their own, small dog. their dog loves everyone(except other dogs) and whenever this nephew tries to pet or hold it ,it growls and snaps at him also. he can never even pet it without a growl, snappy bite,or the dog running from him. so i am not sure if it is the dog or the child. i was present at the time of the incident so i know he didnt not provoke the dog. i am so upset t , i love my dogs(i have 3 ,2 are boston terriers) and hate to have to give him up but i also love my family and i am concerned about safety now. what should i do , the dog is also aggressive at the vets, always has been. the vet said he is not offensive but defensive, very protective. he needs to be muzzled at the vets. and sometimes sedated. depending on what he is there for. is this dog becoming a danger? please help!!!
