Not that many activities in the winter plus many people are that way during this time because they have to stay inside and it can be hard to socially interact with other people also winter is a living hell economically speaking.

In winter there is less sunlight, causing lack of vitamin d, which works with the thyroid to produce T3, which in turn regulates brain chemicals of serotonin and dopamine having to do with mood. There I said it all fast! : D
usually Sunshine and warmth automatically makes the body and person happy and feel more alive and whole, While when it is winter there isn't as much as sunshine and warmth as summer and spring they don't feel as happy but more gloomy and depressed. A sunny day we yell ya when winter comes we feel like chums... Idk
I have this I think, Its called Seasonal Affection Disorder (SAD). Its when you are depressed around the same time each year. Usually winter. Caused because of lack of sunlight and bad weather. Hope this helped <3 ^.^ ~CuteCat
diprivation of vitamin D suppresses your feelings until they are simply down low. this creates a strong hormone called dopatin that makes you feel really down. it makes u tired and bored even when ur watching ur fav movie. The clouds dont help either because the body reacts to chill and dark differently. dark makes u tired (eg: night time) chill is a natural instinct to become drowsy because the body uses so much energy to shiver and pump blood around. (cold makes ur heart pump harder than it normally would) hope this helped! :D i got the winter blues too.
I would explain as this: cold weather give us the impression that we should separate more energy to maintain our body that we do not have much energy to pay attention to feel our inner world with promising and pleasant spirits. :)
It's called SEASONAL AFFECT DISORDER and it only affects in a particular season annually and it's probably due to the lack of Vitamin D and sunlight which can really uplift people. Just ask anyone living in LA!
Not only winter, it happens in the rainy season too. If the weather is dull, the cornea gets very little light which leads to chemical imbalance in the brain. This depression is known as Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and popularly known as winter depression or winter blues. Bright light therapy is a common treatment for this. Nothing much to worry about this.
