If someone commits crimes in multiple states, and is wanted by the police in those states, who gets to prosecute him when he's caught?

Also, can someone have more than one arrest warrant issued for him at the same time? From different police departments. How do they decide which place will prosecute him when they finally do catch him? Even more, if he's wanted across a few countries, which one gets custody of him? Is it the place where he committed the worst crime out of all of them?

What if he's caught in a state where he isn't wanted for any crime, but he's wanted in other states? Then who gets?

well depends of what he did, and if he is wanted in one place then he will be wanted in another.

Hypothetically, let's say he committed a serious crime in NY and PA (same seriousness) and a lesser crime in NJ, but the crime was done before the two serious other ones. Does he go to the place where the crime was more severe (NY / PA) or to the place where the first (albeit smaller) crime was committed (NJ)?

If the jurisdiction goes according to where the more serious crimes occurred, how do they decide if it will be NY or PA that gets him (the crime is of the same seriousness)?

I know it's a lot, lol

I think the state in which he committed the worst crimes.

The state that catches him gets to prosecute first. If the crimes involved breaking laws like bringing stolen goods across stateliness then it becomes a federal offense and the federal government will prosecute.

If he's caught in a state where he's not wanted, can he be prosecuted there for his crimes in other states?
Report as
No, they would extradite him back to where he is wanted.

Its usually based on the laws of the state of which he was caught in. Texas will pay to have the perpetrator sent back to Texas for prosecution. If the crimes cross state lines; depending on the crime, it may become federal jurisdiction.
