What is the difference between peak and trough?

Peak is when medicine is given it is the highest concentration that the medicine reaches in the blood. Usually 1 and a half hours after the dose of medicine is administered by injection or intravenous. Trough is the lowest level and usually blood is taken 1 and a half hour before next dose. This is used to determine the level of an antibiotic administered or another pharmaceutic agent.
