:/ are you serious?
Report as
yup everyone does it's normal.
you need to drink lots of water when doing a marathon to avoid dehydration, and drinking lots of water leads to...
so you just go when you gotta go haha.
Report as
Yeah ummm That's not true at all

Chris have you ever ran a marathon?
It is totally true look it up you for yourself. Maybe not everyone does but it is more common then you'd think.
Report as
I have run several half marathons (full marathons are actually unhealthy for the body) if you just watch a marathon you would be able to see that people aren't peeing there pants while running. Idk if you make a habit of doing this or not but it's not a common thing
Report as
Run a full marathon and then come back and talk to me. It is actually very common among competitive runners trying to place well or win...
Report as
I'm assuming your a professional runner and have peed your pants several times while running a marathon than?
Report as
I'm sure your a great runner and your 60 yd time is very impressive but I've spent 13 hours on a baseball field working out, running, and chugging water like it's my job and I'm proud to say I've never peed my pants

Drink 16 to 24 oz of fluid about 1 hour before the marathon. Don't drink anything after that, and keep emptying your bladder. Drink another 4 to 8 oz of fluid about 10 minutes before you start running, so that you're hydrated for the start.

They drink during the marathon, or they'll pass out.
Report as
I know that. She didn't ask that. She asked how to avoid peeing during the marathon. But if that information is necessary then to replace fluids while running, you should be drinking about 6 to 8 ounces of fluids every 20 minutes. That should keep you hydrated while making it so you don't have to pee.

How much water you body burns is not a set number where are you getting your figures from?
It depends on outside temperature, sodium intake, calories burned, stress and a whole host of other factors.
How can you say 6-8 Oz are you here doctor...
Report as
No it is not a set number but 6-8 oz is a common amount. Yes, this would vary with different temperatures, amount of intensity that you run with, etc... I was just simply giving my opinion from the aspect of being athletic. You don't have to bash on my answer just trying to give a decent answer. These are just healthy amounts of water to keep your body hydrated on a normal day with normal circumstances during a marathon. I did not realize that I was supposed to include multiple situations. Would you rather me say something to the effect of.. You should pee before the marathon. Then you won't have too during it!.. There you go if that was what you were looking for....
Report as
But you did not state is as an opinion, given word wording you stated it as fact. Which it's not.
Report as
Wow man you don't have to attack my answer. Sorry if it didn't please you but hopefully it helped the question asker. I wasn't answering it for your pleasure. Plus, I got my information from here. It was my opinion that it was right. http://running.about.com/od/hydrationforrunners/f/urination.htmn.

You go before it starts and then you sweat so much during it, you won't need to go.
