What test do I use when I have a sample of data and a population mean?

In the general population, the average score for how anxious people are about math (question 6) is 3.961. Does the data in your sample adequately represent this population? Identify the appropriate test and compute the relevant score.

If you have the population mean that you got from the data list, then you can use that to find the variance. Variance is the average of the squared differences from the mean. With the variance, you will be able to find the standard deviation which is the square root of the variance.
