My 6 year old girls hair is naturally curly and beautiful, but when wet and pulled straight, only 3" long.never cut. why wont it grow?

The only part of hair that is "alive" is the root that grows under the scalp/skin. Trimming doesn't affect growth. Your child's hair may be breaking off or not going through the growth phase to gain length yet. Here is a link from WebMD that explains the science of hair growth. Be sure to check with a doctor if you find this worrisome

To keep hair growing and healthy it should be trimmed every now and then. Also if her body doesn't have enough nutrients hair is the first thing that stops growing
