What is a good age for girls to start to dye their hair?

If you had a daughter, what age?... I would say 14 or so

I died my sons hair when he was six. It's just hair. It'll grow out.
Although I will admit, he did turn to a life of crime and drugs. He's on the run as we speak.

Yes, I'm just kidding. He's always had different types of hair styles. Until last year, he cut it short and now just has a regular old hair style.

I'm a more liberal mom, I manic panicked my daughters hair when she was only 3. She's now 14 and has dyed black hair. It's just hair.

Its just hair. And if the kid can pay for it themselves then it shouldnt matter. They can buy the cheap store brands. But i would say as long as the child buys it, then go for it.

Same here!!! Actually now I'd like to dye my hair but not like most people think. My hair is about 60% gray and the 40% that's not gray is (what I like to call) dead mouse brown. id like to dye all my hair a nice silvery gray. Strangely, you can't but boxed hair color (that I've been able to find) in gray.

I would imagine there are many women (and men) in the same situation...the industry is missing out on potential sales. I've been blessed with "good hair" genes...nice brown color, natural waves that style easily and maybe 1% gray hair...my hair dresser is envious...lol

Your hair changes color as you age. I was born with blonde hair which didn't start getting darker until I was in my 20's. I would keep chemicals off your hair as long as possible. In my opinion, 14 is too young.

14?! 16?! WOAH, buddy. Everyone on here is being a LITTLE crazy. Hair damage is completely unimportant, first of all. Maybe not BLEACH your hair... but dying is just fine. Hair damage is very real today, but not the end of the world. As was said a while back, it isn't permanent. Hair does grow back, and healthy hair can be redeemed. Not to mention, it's not dreadfully common for peoples' hair to be damaged too badly if the dying is done correctly. There are worse things out there that a girl could do than dye her hair. A LOT less healthy things are done every day self-consciously. Curling your hair "damages" it. So, it's not that bad. Not to mention it helps to express personality.

16, but if you do it way to much, it can make you go bald, so dont do it very much, or dont do it back to back where you are bored with it and then change it.

16 at the youngest. I know it is only hair, but the chemicals they use to dye hair are no joke.

LOL.
Dye it when the gray is noticable.
