Selfish to waer a ball gown dress to my daughters bat mitzvah

My daughter is upset that I will steal all the attention at her bat mitzvah by wearing a ball gown dress just like her.

shes just a teen and keep in mind that you had your chance before. i would let her enjoy her night being the center of attention

If you really want to then it is up to you but try to put yourself in her shoes...Would u want your mother to do that to you.....A similar thing happened with my daughter

Well I wouldn't like it if I was in her place because in my perspective as a teen I feel everyone else gets more attention and especially my parents so in your place I would wear a normal dress that fits the occasion

Really? You want to outshine your daughter on HER day? Did your mother do that to you?

Be a good mom and dress appropriately. It will make your daughter happy and be good for your relationship.

C'mon, mom; that'd be tacky.
Wear something NICE, flattering, & age-appropriate. I have no doubt you are a beautiful woman & will be stunning in whatever you wear.
But this will be your daughter's time to take the spotlight.
Be gracious & allow that to happen.
God will bless you for it.

It IS her day. Why wear a dress that will draw attention to you? Wear a nice age appropriate gown if its fancy dress. Let your daughter shine on her day rather than using her to fulfill some long past fantasy you have of something you missed out on.

Unfortunately, you will. Being Jewish, besides my own, I have been to many. It's your daughter's day and albeit I am certain you will look beautiful in anything other than a ball gown, if she is already upset and "her day" hasn't even arrived yet, why as her mother wouldn't you want her to be as excited as she should be from today until her Bat Mitzvah. Congratulations to your daughter! May you all have a wonderful time. Please, think about what you are doing. I just saw your member name. I only hope you didn't created it because your daughter is upset. In all honesty, you are being selfish.

I'm a mom of 5, the youngest about to turn 18. I often get on kids here about being too _______________(fill in the blank). All I can come up with is, seriously? What are you thinking? She is right! This is her day.........just pay for it and then step back and KET her have her day. This will be good practice for when she gets married.
