Long car ride with new baby hamster?

I just got my baby hamster today, after I had to give up my old one (long story). He can't be more that a month or 2 old, but tomorrow I have to take him on a trip from Virginia to Florida that will last 1.5 days. We'll drive from 12:30 p.m. tomorrow to about 10 at night, then we'll stop at a hotel and drive the rest the next day. Are there any tips you have to travel with him since he's already stressed? Thanks!

Just make sure he is kept from the windows. everything flying by will stress him. Hamsters can't comprehend things moving at that speed. Where in FL are you going that it is going to take that long? I used to drive from Charlottesville to Daytona in 13 hours and that was stopping every 2-3 hours to let the dogs out to exercise.

The very top. It takes from about 7-12 hours, depending on traffic, weather, ect. I was planning on keeping him in the trunk (our back seat is completely open to the trunk. My dogs would kill him if I put him in the backk seat) with a towel over the front and top of the cage.

A caged hamster won't be bothered too much, I would think. As long as he's warm, has food and water .. He'll probably sleep most of the way.
