Nope. Wifi has to be built into your iPod. Not just that, but wifi is provided by a local router, with a very limited range. And then, some routers are password protected. That's why there's "local hotspots" - because routers can't broadcast incredibly far. Now, you COULD get something with 3G capability, but that communicates over cell phone networks, so you'd have to pay for a cell phone service. You could also "tether" to a cell phone which allows tethering - basically your iPod or laptop uses the 3G service through your phone. But it's usually blocked unless you pay for it.
