What is the best over-the-counter brand of pills for migraines?

I have had migraines for as long as I can remember and motion sickness but when I was younger I never talked to anyone about it because I didn't know what it was and didn't like to complain. Just horrible unbearable pains in my head in different areas that just take over for hours and all I want to do is just lay down and not move. I'm not the person that likes to pop pills for every little problem and even avoided taking pills for my depression and anxiety, I just deal with it so I don't get addicted to the routine. I've never talked to a doctor before about my migraines but I know eventually in the near future I will go there. Just need ideas on a good brand for chronic migraine so I can feel like a normal person.

Ouch! Know just how you feel! Got back from Florida this week after seeing Neuro and many tests for same problem. Diagnosis:Severe Chronic Migraine= more than 15 days a month etc. mine came and went most my life, then steadily increased with Menopause and last 3-4 months EVERY single day! Will be doing Botox treatments for Migraine as all other Meds didn't work or stopped working..
The one that DID work quite well for years, Imitrex= Sumatriptan.
If I took it as soon as felt the tell-tale signs, it would pretty much stop the auras and would lessen most of the severe headaches. Problem with those Meds is that can be dangerous for people with High Bloodpress. or any history of strokes in family etc.,
didn't have that much choice though, am allergic to Aspirin and the one non-prescrip.
most people I know with this issue take and works; is something like Bayer Migraine.
It's a combo of Acetaminophen-Asperin-Caffeine.

Would really suggest getting checked out though, just to make sure you're otherwise healthy and get the right treatment. There are quite a few ways to deal
With Migraines depending on type and frequency; from Meds which hopefully stop the Pain etc. before it gets bad, to those which you take every day to try to prevent them alltogether. Again which works best for you is better determined in conjunction with a Migraine-Headache specialist.
When you said you didn't like taking pills and that you just wanted to feel like a normal person... Felt like I was hearing myself! So yeah; did not want all the Meds I tried of which some worked as said, but wanted/needed to function!
And for many years was able to pretty much 90% of the time with the help of the Triptans., but when after 20 or so years the dosage went from 1/2 a 25mg
(Lowest is 25) to a High of 200 @day.. And still nothing.. Bah!
Try the asperin combo if you are healthy otherwise, but do consider going to
A specialist and GOOD LUCK!:-).

Until you can get a prescription med, you'll just have to try different OTC meds until you find something that works for you. I've heard that Advil Migraine is pretty good, but different people react differently to meds.

I just recently tried Bayer Headache, i'm not sure if its really doing anything or not, i like to believe it is. It seems whenever i compare the ingredients on all the brands that say that theyre better than the others, their ingredients are identicle and same mgs so it confuses me.

It's a money racket. You really need to get a doctor to give you a prescription med such as imitrex, something that will actually give you relief.

What you describe does NOT sound like a migraine. I have been a migraine sufferer for twenty-six years. The fact that you say unbearable pains in different areas, makes me pretty sure you are not getting migraines, although the motion sickness is indicative of a migraines. Migraine pain is an intense throbbing, nearly always on one side of the head. There is often an aura in the very beginning, so that one is able to know the migraine is coming. That is when I get maximum -strength pain reliever into me. Liqui-gels dissolve faster. It is critical to ingest right at the the first warning. By d doing so, I am able to escape the terrible, terrible wrath of a migraine, including vomiting. Horrible, horrible things, with the nausea, vomiting, unbearable throbbing. Usually sleep is even not possible, it's so suffering. Anyway, if I get pain reliever into me, stat, once I know it's coming, my migraine is SO much less than it would have been, otherwise. I believe you may be suffering from cluster headaches, and I understand they are no fun, either. Here are links on both headaches, and I hope you are able to discern what you have. Some links for you:

thanks. the motion sicknesses definately gives me migraines and i am so sensetive i battle random nausea off and on that isnt even related to my motion sickness. here i am just sitting on the couch minding my own business and bam painful migraine on the sides of my head (feels like the back too), almost feeling like its in my ears also, very uncomfortable (not an ear infection!) and i just have to ly down and feel like i cant do anything or it will hurt worse. sometimes its in the front of my head like my temples, maybe thats the times it related to my motion sickness, i dont pay enough attention and journal it.
I tell you my grade school/high school days were torture riding the bus, my head killed me from the motion sickness and i kept it to myself because i knew my dad and stepmom didnt care anyways and i didnt understand what it was.

I totally don't believe you get migraines. So many people refer (wrongly) to a bad headache as a migraine. You just don't describe migraine symptoms.
I don't know why you haven't seen a doctor about this, after all your years of enduring this.
Here's another link l I hope can be useful for you.

Please check out these links. I hope you can figure out exactly what you have. The last link, especially....may be your thing. See a doctor, and good luck to you, finding a cure. I'm sorry you felt like your dad and stepmom didn't care. : {
