Does anyone sell vegetarian pet food?

Cats are carnivores but surely don't need 100% meat. If it's nutritious with the right vitamins etc couldn't it be done as most vegans are animal lovers.

Yes, they do feel it. It goes against the cat's nature (just look at their teeth. do they really need chompers like that for tomatoes?), but it still happens. Humans being vegetarians isn't natural either but they aren't unhealthy. A cat might not enjoy it at first, but they can get used to it.

Most produced pet food is cooked and prepared in such a way that a toothless cat could eat it. They certainly don't need impressive canine teeth to chomp their way through a sachet of 'Sheba'. I'm vegan but I'm not handing in my canine teeth yet, they have uses other than taking down prey or gnawing on bones although strictly that would be molars. I'm sure manufacturers could formulate a nutritious recipe and add bone facsimiles for the crunch experience, they'd have a huge market as most vegetarians are animal lovers and presumably pet owners too. We get exploited with our own diets I can't believe no one has seen the potential to cash in on our pets.

I know there is dog food that has no meat. As odd as it sounds some dogs have allergies or sensitivities to meat.

As for some animals being carnivores and switching them to a vegan diet. I would never switch my pet over just because it hurts my sensibilities. There is a cycle to life and animals eating other animals is part of it.

Why would you want your cat to be a vegetarian?
It goes against their natural instinct.

Animals need protein. They use up a ton of energy every day and protien equals energy. Dont impress your human hang ups on your poor animals. Cats are carnivors, not herbivores. Possibly could just barely qualify as omnivores. Cats need protien every day to be healthy.

My cat sleeps 20 hours a day so I can't see that she needs that much protein. Surely if she ate fish I could make up a part of her diet with vegetarian pet food. I'm not putting my hang ups on my cat, I spend more on her meat than I do on my diet but I would like to find out if any company had managed to produce a diet that had all the requirements of a carnivore without me having to buy meat. Dogs are omnivores and it's probably easier to find a balance for them.
