Why isnt black and white a color?

Black is considered to be not a color because it is the absence of color. For instance, when there is no light, everything becomes black. White, on the other hand, is the blending of all colors hence a color. Read more on http://www.colormatters.com/color-and-design/are-black-and-white-colors.

Black is the situation of non-colour. And white is the situation of the unification of every colour. Maybe, because of that.
