Well first you have to think "Why do I want it in the first place?"
Make a list of 5 good reasons why you want it
Then make a list of 5 good reasons why your folks should approve of this purchase
compile these lists together, sit your parents down, and have a little "talk". If you relax, be confident, and give credible reasons why you want to get this device, you'll do fine
Another approach is to make a word document and make a page or more proposition which should talk about why you need it, why they should give you permission. Then e-mail it to them and see what they think
Overall I think that you'll do fine if you stick to your guns and just tell them what you want and why
I think the Ipod Touch should be categorized in a "Personal Media Player" or PMP for short (that way you could use mp3 player, PDA, gaming console, mini laptop, ETC as reasons why you should get it)
I wish you the best of luck on your quest to find the approval of your parents!!!
Talk to the parents about the numerous advantages of the iPod touch. Assure your parents that you will be responsible with it and will not reject your duties. You can also suggest to make some contribution for buying the iPod from your allowance.
Talk to your parents.Be patient and polite.Tell them the advantages of having one.If they say no don't panic. You could make a deal with them for example you pay 25% of the price or something!Or again, ask for it on Christmas or on your birthday!

well i finally convinced mine to get me a touch. im so sick of my nano. I told them how it can be useful with all the internet and stuff but here are a few tips :)
1. Bring it up that you want it at the RIGHT time. Do it in the late-afternoon....when your parents are more calm and easier to talk to. NOT in the morning when they're groggy, or when they just got home from work and they're tired.
2. Don't beg or whine for it. Bring it up like, "Oh my friend has this Ipod touch and it's REALLY cool. She can download cool apps, and play games when she's bored! Some games are even educational!".
3. Get GOOD grades. And im talking A's and B's. If you do well, and focus on school....your parents will be highly impressed and may consider what you've said about it more.
4. Do your chores daily and on time WITHOUT being asked. Your parents will think you're being responsible, and possible responsible enough for an Ipod touch! Who knows?
