Am I being treated like a child? (Read More Below)

My mom and her friend made a chart for me and two kids (one is 4 and the other is 1). I am 13. Some of the things on the chart are dumb like "not back talking." This seems like a little kid thing.

You ARE a child.

If they put that on the chart, then maybe they feel that it's something you need to work on. Either you are talking back and you don't realize it, or they are misinterpreting you, but in either case, if you don't understand why it's on the chart - it would be worth it to talk to them (calmly) and find out why they think you are talking back to them.

I'm 18 and I still don't back talk my parents. And you are a kid.

Well, you're 13, you are a little kid (more specifically a young adolescent). So what if you think it's a little "childish", that's the authority of your parent and no one is above talking back to their own authority figure.

If you want to be mature, accept it calmly.

You're not in Highschool yet and you and I both are still under our mother's care so technically we're kids

The conscience will convict the guilty only while the innocent go free. I say innocent, until proven otherwise. Go in peace!

Not talking back is dumb? You're 13, and you may think that you are well on your way to being a grown up. You are far from it. If you were you would have just shrugged at the chart and said ok.

Pack up your stuff, load up your car and split. Show her that you're no kid, don't invite her over to your place, no macaroni glued to an OJ can pencil holder for her next Christmas. I'm with you, time to stand up for what you believe in, adults think they know so much ha. They don't have a clue, oops gotta roll Sponge Bob's coming on

I think that a child should be allowed to give feedback no matter what their age is. I would have to know what your mom considers to be back talk in order to say whether that is wrong or not. I don't think that it would be treating you like a child exactly, but I think that it is teaching you not to open up and be honest with her about how you really feel if she does not want any feed back about what she said. If you were to yell "I know !", that would be very disrespectful. My son does this all the time and I have to correct him constantly. But if you said, "but I can't stand the taste of Brussel sprouts!" or "but those pants are ugly", that is how you really feel and she as your mother should encourage you to express yourself to her respectfully.

Well no parent likes to be talked back to. It's just a mom and dad thing.
