I listen to heavy metal and dubstep. Everybody says they are bad, and can hurt you.

I love heavy metal and Dubstep. I listen to it while i do my homework, but we had an assembly at school saying that we need to listen to calm music or our minds will be messed up forever! Dubstep helps me work, and Heavy metal is what i listen to when i play Foot Ball. They help me, but are they really bad? Please, i want to be healthy. and people answering this probably think i'm an idiot, i just don't know. Please help.

Heavy Metal musicians are some the most intelligent artists, most of the founders are classically trained...it takes a smart, open mind to recognize true art in any form.People sometimes fear what they don't understand...

There's nothing wrong with playing to heavy metal and dubstep tracks, as long as you're listening to great songs like 'Liquid Stranger' by Ripple and 'Master of Puppets' by Metallica. If the songs give you the motivation you need to study and play football, that's all that matters.

That's a very liberal point of view. The public schools are very concerned with "peacefulness" and "everybody be kind" they want everyone to be sweet. The fact is, however, the real world ain't all sweet and loving all the time. Listening to dub step and metal won't hurt you not will it affect your health.

That would really be a pretty conservative point of view.

Not really... I'm conservative. However, I believe that the public school system's agenda on making everybody love everybody and forcing kids to accept their philosophy is very liberal. I believe that there is an order to things, some thing are meant to be different, that's what makes it beautiful. And the liberals want to come in and make everyone equal and mediocre. I'm NOT saying that I don't believe in equality, I mean that they want everyone to be the same. No one should be great, no one should be less than average. When, after all, America was founded by GREAT men. If that makes any sense to you.

Music is music. I dont like heavy metal or dubstep, but they can't melt your brain out your ears, no matter how much the health geeks insist that they can. Listen to whatever floats you heavy metal boat.

Not to sound rude, but those people can stfu (: music cannot hurt you in any way. It's actually proven that a lot of people that listen to heavier music are more intelligent. Listen to the type of music you like. Whatever makes you happy, I listen to the same type of music as you and honestly I can't stand most 'calm' music. You can listen to all 3 types, but never stop listening to what you love. If you're looking for calm music I recommend Ed Sheeran or Secondhand Serenade (: hope this helps! x

I would agree that dubstep is mesmerizing and could help one tune in to what their focusing on. Plus the usual lack of catchy lyrics allows one to read without other words sneaking into ones mind. However the BASS in dubstep has potential for hearing damage. Unfortunately the damage you do now may not affect you until your much older. As for the heavy metal......... I'm sorry. Just playing. I can see how it would help prepare or pump one up before aggressive performances. But once again the volume is a danger to your hearing. Don't think I'm a Hippocrite writing this because I listen to dubstep......... a little much than I Like to admit. Plus at volumes and bass levels that make my wife complain.

Everybody says i have a very passive and understanding personality. I play it a med volume with my head phones. It doesn't bother anybody. But, i try to stay nice

I always found that music that lack a lot of lyrics or catchy lines or raps known by heart. Dubstep would be my choice for reading or studying. Heck I'm 35.

Metal and Dubstep won't rot your brain any more than jazz, rock and roll or classical music will. Every generation has someone wagging their finger at them about their "evil" music! That's been going on for over one hundred years at least! Crank it up kiddo!

I'm a grandma if that makes any difference. My Bible thumping parents used to flip over what we listened to. My grandparents thought big band music was straight from Satan! We all survived with most of our morals intact. (Except for me of course, damn those Monkees records!!)

Music cannot hurt you in anyway if anything it will help you not only to express yourself but music can also help you tune out the world and concentrate in one thing I listen to everything from heavy metal to country music and I'm perfectly healthy and have never gotten anything below a B in school and my dad has listened to heavy metal and rock music for his entire life and his brain is perfectly fine and he's 49 so honestly not to sound mean but those people need to STFU until they get their facts straight.

The only way it can hurt you is if you listen to the music with the volume all the way up with your earplugs in.
