A similar question came up just last week about this and out of all the research I did, in all technicality, you can't marry your 1st cousin. There are no laws after that. And I assume he's probably not even a second cousin by you saying a distant family member, but it's not for anyone to judge. You just don't want to get into the "Deliverance" movie thing with brothers and sisters where it's actual incest (and that subject just truly makes me sick to talk about). This is not the case, my dear.
well after all this is a distant family member so just tell yourself not all long distance relationships work out and there your family so just know what maybe comfortable for you may not be comfortable for them.
Whats distant? Second cousin and on is not legally considered incest and by third cousin on there shouldnt be many genetics issues either. Geez, just to be honest, my granny and grandpa were second cousins. It happens. If your love is like your fifth cousin on your mommas side or whatever, dont sweat it. Royalty in ever country have done it for centuries. The Royals (ex-royals) in Britain, France, Germany, Spain and a few other countries are all related by blood because they used to intermarry like mad. They are all distant cousins to one another one way or anither. Heck, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip of England are third cousins. Phillip is originally a Battenburg from Denmark.
