There are many differences, but size and location are the most obvious. Disneyland is in Anaheim, CA & Disneyworld is in Orlando, FL. Disneyworld is much larger and opened 16 yrs after Disneyland opened in 1955.
Disneyland Park is owned and operated by the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts division of The Walt Disney Company. Originally, and still often colloquially, called Disneyland, it was dedicated with a televised press preview on July 17, 1955, and opened to the general public on July 18, 1955. Disneyland is the only theme park to be designed and built under the direct supervision of Walt Disney himself.
Walt Disney World Resort, sometimes shortened to Walt Disney World or Disney World, is the world's largest and most visited recreational resort. Located approximately 6 miles southwest of Orlando, Florida, USA, the resort covers an area of 30,080-acre (47.00 sq mi; 121.7 km2) and includes four theme parks, two water parks, 23 on-site themed resort hotels (excluding 8 that are on-site, but not owned by the Walt Disney Company), including a campground, two health spas and physical fitness centers, and other recreational venues and entertainment There are many differences, but size and location are the most obvious. Disneyland was opened before Walt died. His brother Roy was his partner. After Walt died, Roy completed the Florida park and it's official name is "Walt Disney World" in honor of Walt. They bought the land in Florida in secret under many names so as to have plenty of space and not get crowded in like as happened in California. Many more things to do in Florida but California has some things Florida doesn't and vice versa.
I've been numerous times to both and Disney World is by far the most the fun & largest of the two. Disney World has a "magical" quality to it and it feels like it's own world. Disney Land seemed like a copy-cat rip-off.
Disney world has about 5 different parks and 2 waterparks. You would need 4/5 days to see everything they have there. Disneyland and Califorina Adventure are across from each other, both are very fun. If your planning a trip go to Disney world but if you plan a trip to California I would visit everything else we have to offer- sea world, knotts berry farm, universal studios, zoo, etc....
