If I offer a car dealership cash for a car, will I get a discount?

I want to buy a car that is $24,000. If I offer to pay $19,000 in cash, would a dealer accept it? $19,000 out the door.

You will probably get a discount, but it's seldom more than 3%, certainly not the 21% discount you want.

its not an issue in your favor cuz they just soon make the extra money on interest payments. but save it till tou make the deal then ask so how much more will you cut if i pay cash

You'll get a discount but not nearly as much as you are hoping for

Come in with some competing prices from other dealers, then maybe you'll have more leverage than you have now. I bought a new car listed at $24,710.00 It was a year old at the time, even though new. And having these competing quotes, I bought it, with a 13 year bumper to bumper warranty, for $18,212.00.

Regardng the large discount? Is it a New or Used? Unfortunately cash is no longer a bargaining advantage, in fact they will attempt to convince you to keep your cash. They make more money that way. However being debt free is Freeing :) Do your online shopping prior to, then negotiate being well informed. PS raised in the auto industry..
