I need help with homework please?

Charles Lindbergh flew from New York at 7:05 local time may 20 and landed in Paris at 23:21 local time may 21. He traveled 5830 km. How long did he take to get to Paris?

Xena - your comment asking handyhammer how they arrived at the answer is exactly why I don't just give the answer when responding to these kinds of questions. I prefer to tell you how to solve it and let you do the work. For this problem, since both times are given in local time, you'll need to know the time difference between Paris and New York. A quick Google search will tell you that (Let's call it X hours). Remember that since Lindbergh was traveling east, he was losing hours. If you are in New York, it's X hours later in Paris. So to answer your question, find out the difference between the two times as if he had never left New York (7:05am to 11:21pm at the end of the NEXT day) and then subtract X hours for the time difference. Because you have to add a day and 23-7=6 and 21-5=16.
