What is a modem compared to a router

Report as

A modem is what you use to actually receive your internet connection through phone line or cable. A router splits that connection up so you can use it on multiple computers

A router can be used without a modem. The Internet is made up mostly of interconnected routers. Modems are the final node of the network between the end user and the ISP.
