Sock hops. In Public and Private Schools they were an opportunity to dance to the music our parents didn't like; meet that special someone; hang out innocently with friends then go to a drive-in eatery and actually see those girls on roller skates deliver food (some were phenomenal on skates!). Where I was from that was Bob's Big Boy Restaurant. They are still around!
I guess hanging out at the Malt Shop or Drugstore drinking egg creme soda. Having a racoon tail hanging from your car antenna. Black lather jackets and those dresses with embroidered poodles on them. Penny candy and Drive in theatres.
I'm guessing, I was born in the '50's... (rocket) fins on cars, look up Cadillacs, the "Twist", by Chubby Checker, I think TV Dinners came in the '60's (aluminum foil type), you could ask Coca Cola for an ad to see bottle shape and label, I think tin cans for soft drinks were in, no aluminum, drive-in theaters, and drive-in's like MacDonald's ('60's again) weren't around, but there were others. The movie "Back to the Future" is appropo also. Ask others about these.
