Can I earn a lot of money, from chemistry?

Depends on what you do and what you find to be a lot of money. Researchers tend to make more than professors. I have family members that are chemists and do well in the educational field. They do it because they love it, but know that they could make far more in research depending on the company that hires them.

How come most people avoid the chem. major in college?

Probably not, unless you invent an important new process or technology. But you can make a good middle to upper middle class income. Go to career and income web sites like Salary.com and search on "chemistry" or "chemist" to get an idea of the different types of jobs and what they pay. And don't forget, the sciences are just plain cool, so working as a scientist has its own value.

Chemistry can be hard. It involves other sciences like physics and math. And like all sciences, some people have the aptitude and others don't.

If you go into a teaching profession, you could make a decent amount.

One of my kids is a chemist with a major pharmaceutical company and makes well over $100,000 a year. She has her masters degree.

You have to be proud. That's a lot of years study for her. That's great.

Yep, she'll be 35 in two weeks and she just completed her masters last year. 75% of her total tuition was paid by her employer, thank goodness.

Sure, once my teacher told us, "If anyone here would like to become a millionaire or billionaire listen attentively! To make this dream come true you should be fluent in the language of chemistry and should have some creativity. That's all!" In that way she encouraged the class to be involved into the subject. Of course it sounds strangely a bit)) but in some way it's true.

Actually you think that all the things are already invented and nothing more could be...and you should be a genius and...Yeah, you should be...))But it's not at all. A master isn't born but made! And if you genuinely love what you do you'll reach the top of the success!!!

You ask what do I mean? Well, all of us sometimes make mistakes and (the first thing that came to my mind) for example when confusing the order of numbers by to divide by(by mistake) our guys received the rate of efficiency more than 100%. It seem to be foolish but it's an idea. What if you increased those rate of efficiency of the producing one substance from another to the maximum line(I'm not talking about 100%))) What if you develop a cheap way to produce a power for example(that would not actually harm the environment)) What if you synthesize the cure from cancer or multiple sclerosis, all in all?
Lots of ideas, just your knowledge and enthusiasm needed.

P.S. Originally I've written more than this...but it is more than enough for the answer. there was a limit, so that i swept smth away...)))))
Thanks for reading this (even if it's inappropriate, perhaps. I'm not sure))))
