I love when the power goes out... for a short time of course. Whether it's hot or cold, a couple of days without power really gets you grounded ... well it does for me at least. If it's cold... get the blankets out, section off rooms to keep warm, light the candles, build a fire, read a book etc etc. If it's warm... go sit outside and just enjoy the night while having an excuse to do nothing.
First I call the power company to find out if it is only where I live or if there is a power outage all over. This way they become aware and start working on the problem. Then I light candles all around my house and relax until the electric comes back on.
light candles . i also had a flashlight and at one time i had one of those flashlights that sits in the wall outlet recharging and went on automatically when the power went out . i also had batteries in my radio so i could automatically listen to the news and see howcum and how long .
