I personally wear disposable contacts. I thought it was going to be hard to put them in and take them out. My optometrist put them in the first time and to my surprise, I didn't even flinch, and when I removed them for the first time it was like I had done it for years. Always wash your hands before you put them in and when you take them out to prevent germs from your eyes. You won't have any problems.
I have had colored contact lenses for almost 10 years. I suggest using a mirror until you get more comfortable putting them in without a visual aid. Look in the mirror as you put them in, and you should be fine!
I recently got contacts (non-colored perceptions) but yes at fist I was scared and for me it was difficult to take them out. But I strongly suggest getting them as if you do it will be hard at first but then it will get easier
