Can someone give me the basics about the marriage equity situation?
I'll admit I haven't done a lot of research into the subject, though I know I should.
I've always thought it was that LGBT's wanted the same legal and financial rights as everyone else. Which I 100% agree with, being that we're all human beings deserving of equal rights. But that churches didn't want to have to recognize these marriages based on religious doctrine, which I 100% agree with being that they are not public institutions.
Can someone tell me what I'm missing, please?
