HelloPikachu

Why do our fingers get so wrinkly after being soaked in water for so long?

This happens to everyone, that's what I KNOW OF!!!! But, why does it even get wrinkly?? Is it because our hands got too moist?? What's the answer?? It is okay if you don't know. But if YOU know, please tell me!! Very appreciated!! :)

When cells are put into an environment where there is more of a consecration outside of a cell than inside, they attempt to regulate it by taking in more water into the cell, more water causes it to bloat, when your skin cells boat they increase their surface area, which means that there is more skin, but the things that are attached to skin doesn't grow , so it gets wrinkly. It also happens to toes, it doesn't happen to other body parts because that skin is held tightly against muscle, and therefore is not able to bloat

Our skin absorbs the water, shriveling them up.

Yep, our skin absorbs lots of water and the wrinkles help us grip things a little better when our hands and feet are like that
