If you could change one law of our country, what would it be?

Report as

Just..One.. Well, this is kind of.. Clearing up and shiz, but it would be the whole marriage law, since when did religion agree with EVERY SINGLE LAW. I think that if two people love each other and want to take that step they should be aloud and thats what I would allow.

Only if other marriages are called straight marriage.
Report as
IMHO we agree again. I would be proud to say I have a straight marriage.
Report as
I agree... If Churches are exempt from taxes then Marriage should be exempt from the Courts ; '

The drinking age

Helpful (4) Fun (2) Thanks for voting Comments (32)
Report as
Exactly why? drinking is no joke you know.
Report as
not trying to be offensive when i say this but the reason the drinking age is 21 is cuz thats when the brains decision making is developed all the way and drinking would greatly effect that negative if you where under that age
Report as
It's just like the high capacity mags you mentioned, alcohol is just as bad in the wrong hands, why punish everyone for it?
Report as
this is true but when your drunk bad decisions tend to be mad
Report as
Yes, in people that can't control it. If a person is responsible enough to know not to be involved in certain things, drinking is just as dangerous as 90% of the other things out there
Report as
still messes with your frontal lobe tho thats the main reason the age is 21
Report as
No, the main reason the age is 21 is that someone below 21 got stupid with their alcohol and made a bad decision, and someone else let their feelings take over and started crying about it to to make a new law. The government doesn't give a $#!t about your health, it's good business
Report as
defiantly not good businesses

Drinking is illegal until 21
Smoking is illegal until 18, you can't get much stupider that that

Alright, my oncologist is perfectly okay with me doing a bit of drinking. I'm going to take her opinion a lot sooner than some words on a random website, written by some random doctor(?)

Like I said, randomness from a website I've never heard of, is not proof.
I spoke to my oncologist about this a couple different times, there's nothing wrong with it...
Report as
if you on google and look at cat scan differences
Report as
This is the Internet, if you want real medical facts about drinking, do research for yourself in an office of medical records.
Report as
whats the difference ask anyone with common sense drinking is worse then smokeing and just bad for you i mean you can drink lightly but you cant get &*%$ face drunk itll damage your brain
Report as
You are very mislead. If you want to bring common sense into this as your reasoning, reading is common sense. On the outside of a pack of smokes, there is a Surgeon General warning that there is a high chance that regular smokers will get cancer, die, etc...
On a can of beer, it warns that women who are pregnant should not drink
It's common sense to be responsible, an over quantity of anything can damage or kill you
Report as
yes but people die from getting drunk a lot more then from cigs
Report as
The leading causes of death, are directly from smoking, and smoking related illnesses. The leading causes, caused by drinking, are significantly fewer. If someone, who is responsible, smokes 20 cigs in a night, is compared to someone responsible that has 20 beers in one night, there is no comparison at all.
Someone that is responsible knows it is stupid to smoke 20 cigs, and knows not to drink 20 beers. It is possible to do either, but people abuse the quantity (provided the fact that it only takes one cigarette to kill, and if someone has one beer, who gives a rats?)
Report as
It's not a drinking problem, it is a responsibility problem
Report as
One beer can kill you faster than one cig. One beer in the belly of a non drinker then them getting behind the wheel is an accident waiting to happen and often does.
And 20 beers in a night sure can kill you. Drinking a high amount of alcohol in a short period of time can stop your breathing, your brain and your heart from functioning and has caused many deaths. Speak to your own doctor about this if you refuse to believe the research you yourself can do on the internet. Or do you think you know more than him/her too?
Report as
thank you
Report as
Again, I'll say that there is not a beer issue, there is a responsibility issue
Report as
And big red, I have spoken to my doctor about it, and yes I do trust her opinion more than the research done on the Internet, maybe you should have read that...?
Report as
next time your at the docs ask for some mood stabilizers you gots an attitude problem :/

No assault guns but they will never take guns completely away not while I have a say
Report as
What is your definition of "assault gun"?
Report as
Things that fire rapidly like that they use in the army. Army is an excuse anything else is a bit scary but in the right hands ok. But still those are usually used in the things people are scared of these days. Regular guns like rifles and shotguns are ok with me and no one will take my gun away. Never
Report as
Assult guns fire at the same speed as any rifle. One shot per one trigger pull. Maybe you are thinking of machine guns which have been outlawed for many years now. An assult weapon usually has things added to the rifle such as a pistol grip, a scope etc. but nothing that makes it any more deadly then a rifle is. Please get more informed and don't let the gun grabbers scare you with attaching the word "assult" to a weapon. It is their agenda to do this by any means they can. Realize that our second ammendment is there to protect us from tryranny. Without it we have no gaurantee to any of our rights.
Report as
Marcello how do you plan on UN inventing guns. They are here to stay and are the one thing that ensures we Americans have rights and we tell the government what they can do.
Report as
Rifles don't have constant bullets like some guns. Rifles shoot a number of bullets before running out

Wow, You would then hope that you were not part of the 49% being ruled by the 51% in a true democracy. I personally like it better where each individual matters as in a Republic.

If guns get banned that's just down right stupid... That would make it much more difficult to hunt. Its messed up to ban guns when the guns aren't really doing all of the damage. It takes a person to pull the trigger. The gun can't fire on its own. People with commonsense would put it to thought that the people shooting the guns in all of these tragic shootings are just messed up and they aren't thinking clearly. Not all people are horrible, some people only use guns for safety and hunting purposes.

No one is talking about banning all guns in the US.
Report as
IMHO banning any guns is infringing on our rights. You sound like those who say Obama is not trying to take our guns when in his own words he told the senate to get it done. Funny how us conservatives knew his plans from the get go. He said it way before he was first elected. Some of us are actually listening to him instead of being in a trance when he speaks.

The constitution. Replace the current rattletrap Rube Goldberg contraption with an elegant system of a single government elected by a parliament elected by proportional representation, unrestricted by the Commerce Clause and similar inefficiencies.

The right for women to have an abortion. Millions of babies have not been born because of this law unlawfully passed by the Supreme Court. (Laws are to be made by the Senate). To me abortion is the worst and even out does anything that Stalin, Mao or Hitler did combined. The fact that we fail to protect the most innocent and instead murder them is the most disgusting thing this country has ever allowed.

Glad you agree that laws shouldn't be made by undemocratic institutions. Now tell Scalia, who just knows that the 98 senators voting for the Voting Rights Act didn't really want to, so it should be overturned.
Report as
Also glad you can state your opposition without referring to "god" or "the bible".
Report as
I truly believe in following the Constitution as written. That means amending it when needed but only after major debate for a lengthy time. Activist judges should be thrown from the bench no matter which side they are on. It makes a mockery of our justice system and is definitely not fair or equal.
So yeah, even if I agree with the decision I think it is absolutely the wrong way to pass laws.
Just as I would be happy if Romney won but if it was because of voter fraud, I would demand a recount. Too bad the Republicans signed some thing back in 81 that prevents them from legally questioning vote counts because they were caught doing it themselves and agreed under duress to never charge the Dems or anybody of it in all presidential elections. I was wondering why after some precincts having 140% of registered voters going for Obama?? or many not having a single vote for Romney, wasn't even questioned except by those who cared, but never was brought to court.
Oh well, the corruption runs deep in both parties and there isn't much left to do but "shrug".
Report as
Yes, there's a lot of corruption in both parties. That's bc they have no competition. To get competition, we need to have the entire legislature elected by proportional representation, not one rep from each district (gerrymandered of course).
Report as
Well I don't know if that's the answer but I do agree the districts get gerrymandered.
Report as
Ridiculously so. That way they divide the country as much as possible into safe Democratic and safe Republican seats, so they don't even compete with each other except for about 5-10 per cent of the seats.
