Why do I get so hot when I am walking even when it is not warm out, I am a 66 year old female.

There can be numerous reasons wy you are getting to hot while walking and hopefully it doesn't have a medical reason. First off, remember to stay very hydrated before, during, and after walking as you may not be producing enough sweat to cool off properly. Try walking in cooler spots, like somewhere shady, in the trees, etc. Also, use sunscreen all the time to prevent the sun from doing any more damage to your skin. Also, maybe you should try indoor walking or exercize to see if the heat of the day as anything at all to do with it.

You are burning calories. If you're a skinny person, it could be you have a very high metabolism. My boyfriend tends to always be hot. It could also be that, as you age, your body is not as good at regulating your temperature. You may want to see your doctor about this.

I am 59 going on 60 and walk every other day for about 40 minutes to an hour. I am not hot to begin with but warm up quickly, the faster I walk, the warmer I get. My body is getting heated because my heart is beating faster and my blood is flowing more quickly. This is the way it should be. Water is essential to keeping you hydrated and cooling you down. Sometimes it is better to pour it onto your wrists to cool down, or wet a cloth and put the cloth on the back of your neck to cool off. You will stay warm for perhaps a half hour after your walk and still sweat after a shower. My spouse will sweat with water pouring off his body for up to a half hour after a run and longer. Just getting heated up during exercise, your body continues to burn calories and keep you warm for a while after any workout. That being said, if this is a new symptom, or you are new to exercise, it is always good to consult your doctor to discuss any problems with exercise.
