I ran a mile really fast for the first time in like 5 months today and I'm already sore. How can I not be sore tomorrow?

I'm on the swim team but today I had fitness testing and I had to run the mile. It's been about 2 hours since and my thighs and inner thighs are already sore. what should I do to help it go away quickly? I have a swim meet tomorrow so I can't be sore for that. Also, how can I prevent shin splints? those are the worst.

You should stretch for at lease 20 minutes after a hard workout, this will keep your muscles from being sore and cramping up the next day. Good luck with the meet :)

Well, Just rest for a short while. Try not to run too much for the rest of the day.
By the time tomorrow comes, your soreness should be gone.

Do it again. If you haven't done it in a while you need to get your body used to it. The more you do it the better you'll feel later.
