Was John F. Kennedy told to cover the top of his vehicle? A hood over it.
That's what I heard but I'm not sure.
Sadly yes, his security detail warned him, but he chose to remove the blister covering him and his wife. All presidents since have only a sunroof available to stand in, or get out and walk.
I do not know, but I do not think a cover would have made much difference any way.
All presidents have that option but body guards wish the presidents would use the protected hood. Kennedy loved mixing with the public, which was very dangerous. It cost him his life in Dallas.
That's what I heard back when he was shot. Security wanted hood on car but he wanted off so he could wave to the people. Don't know if true or not but that's what I heard on news back then.
