Why do my parents doubt my friendship with people I met on the internet, I have had the same group of "e-friends" since I was 9 (im 14 now)

I know these people very well

No matter how many years you've known someone online, the fact is that until you've actually met them in person - you never will truly know if they are who they say they are. It's very easy to make up a fake persona online, and some people are better than others at playing the game. They are right to be concerned for your safety, but as long as you are only chatting online, then it's probably ok (as long as they aren't doing anything inappropriate). But if they want to meet you in person, you need to let your parents know, so that they can determine if it's safe (or how to handle it the safest possible way).

This is scary. Kids will believe anything anyone tells them. I do not know how parents deal with this everyday.

Because if you haven't met them then you don't know them, and your not really friends. Everything they may have told you, could be lies, and if you haven't met them, you wouldn't even know.
