How do you go about making your partner's interest your interests?

My partner and I are total opposites on the things we like. He is outgoing, likes being social and despises most things outdoors. I am introverted and love most things outdoors. I realize that for us to continue sharing experiences that we both must give/take... and he does a much better job than I on this. How do I... at least tolerate the things he likes?

nwarguy, Here's what I do. Every week my hubby and I do things the other enjoys. My husband is the outdoorsy type. Where I'm more of a spend time at home kind of girl. He's the social butterfly, and I'm the quiet one. He enjoys a lot of "weird" things, including eating weird, exotic foods. I'm more reserved and stick to things I know I like.
What we've done, and this has gotten me out of my shell a little bit, is every week or so, I will do something with him that he enjoys (that isn't really up my alley) Last week we went to a gun show, and guess what, I really had fun. I know a lot about guns, but going to a gun show was something enjoyable for me. So, something that I wouldn't have done, EVER, now is something I greatly enjoy.
You can't make yourself like everything he does, but maybe just trying a few things he likes, may open a huge door for the two of you. Make sure he is doing the same for you thou!

Wonderful idea Cj... oh he is as well. We're all set to the Warrior Dash coming up in May. I asked him the other day.. "You're dreading this aren't you?", "Yep", "Ok just checking."

Haha. Who's the runner? You or him? I'm a runner myself, but getting my husband to do it with me, is a lost cause!

Well.. quite honestly neither of us are a true runner... which is ok for the Warrior Dash b/c there's more obstacle course than running. :)
