How is shooting a gun for the first time like?

I'm going for my first time and want to know how it is? I'm shooting a 22 caliber long rifle

Fun. :)
I took a hunter safety course several years ago, and was nervous at first. Once you get the feel of the gun on your shoulder, and what it's like to shoot, you'll love it!
Don't be nervous!

My first experience was with a Lee Enfield .303 -- the old WW2 standard -- and I ended up with a VERY sore shoulder. The .22 will be fun.

Haha I can only imagine! We shot a pistol, a shotgun (which had a lot of kick), a .22, and a bow.

David - I wish I could have cool stories to tell all the time like you. Lol. Instant conversation starter.
.
Cjay - If you ever want to talk I'm here, okay?

Thanks.

You will, Marcus. Life is full of stories. You only have to keep your eyes and ears open and you'll be surprised how many interesting things happen to you every day.

Cjay - Did I say something wrong?
Report as
No you didn't. Why?

David - I never thought about that before. Wow, I need to ask you for advice more often. LOL. You're a very wise man.

Cjay - Your reply was very short. Lol.

Trying to change the subject, because I don't want to talk about it. But instead of being rude, and ignoring your kindness, I just said thanks.

But I'm about to go off line now, Marcus. Tis time for our evening meal and I won't get back, if at all, for a few hours. Have fun.
Report as
Cjay - Oh I didn't mean to intrude on your personal business. Just an invitation. I have a habit of wanting to give advice and expecting the same in return. Lol. I'm not sure whether that's good or bad.

David, good evening. :)

the recoil for your first few times is a bit painful.

it depends on the caliber. since you're shooting a 22, not painful.

It's only a .22 so there's gonna be like no kick at all. To be accurate with it though, shoot with the very end of your trigger finger and apply very slow even pressure to the trigger to fire it. You should have a firm grip on the rifle but not a death grip or you'll get tired really fast. If you pull the trigger too fast, you'll pull the muzzle to the left if you're right handed. For any higher caliber, you might catch yourself bracing for the kick making your shots less accurate, so always remember to let the shot surprise you. Hope this helps.
