There are several kinds of workouts to make you faster. Most common is tempo runs. On your regular runs take 30 seconds and run at a faster pace, them back to your average pace. Stretch these out, start at 30 seconds then one minute then 2 minutes until you can put together a long run at your new pace. Then there are track work out, typically people do 800's. Two laps around the track at goal pace then an easy 2 laps then another 800 at race or goal pace do eight of these once or twice a week and you feel yourself get faster. Happy running!
I would say slowly building up your stamina would help with this, it's not going to happen over night. Training and working your way up towards being able to run a longer distance, should lend itself to helping your run at a quick pace.
Walk first and then make your way up there but you need to stretch really good first also I you have earphones in your ear or a running buddy it will take your mind of running and you will be better at it bc it won't seem so tough anymore
