There is an "alert" on my ask.com page where the "recent questions" are posted that says

"we have filtered out potentially offensive content from this page" and it gives you the options of "don't show this alert again" or "disable content filtering". I am confused. Ask.com doesn't allow offensive questions or answers,......so why does it even give you that option? Just curious.

The content filter goes a bit further than just generally offensive/inappropriate stuff - which as you said, isn't allowed anyways. Not entirely sure exactly what all it filters out, but it's mostly for younger users that maybe would rather not see any of the sexual health type questions, or the occasional more adult type questions that we get - where proper phrasing is used, but it's still sort of borderline. For example your most recent question - where it's a legit question, but obviously a more mature and somewhat delicate subject.

Ah! Okay, that makes perfect sense. Actually, when I asked that question, I tried to be careful because I WAS mindful that some younger people would be reading it. Thanks too2!! I have been wondering for awhile, just never asked. I even clicked the "disable filtering" to see if I noticed a difference. I didn't. lol

really. I've not seem that. I wonder why you'd get such a "warning?"

It's on everybody's page I believe. Some don't notice it probably. It is at the top of the page where the questions are posted, above the question beginnings.

My guess would be that it's something that is specific to the website itself, and not the app, which may be why you've never seen it. Though it doesn't come up all that often, even on the site.

It doesn't come up on a smart phone.

I see that every time that I log on. It appears at the top of the page after clicking 'Browse'.
