Can navy Corpsman be colorblind? And if so, can they be assigned to FMF?

Report as

It may be difficult to be assigned to navy Corpsman if you are colorblind. This is because you need to see and tell between different colors. Different meds have different color labels and therefore you should be able to tell the difference.

Hmmm well that's funny cuz I am already a EMT and I can tell you what all the drugs we administer. Because you don't go by color for for drugs.

Being color-blind should be acceptable as a Corpsman and you could be assigned to the Fleet Marine Force - ask your Navy recruiter for details .
Good luck !

I doubt it. Only because certain items might be color coded. Pills and medications.

I am already a EMT and we don't go by color codes, are you sure that the hospital corpsman go by color codes? I can tell you if the EMS is anything like the Hospital Corpsman they probably wouldn't go by color codes but if you maybe right hence why I am asking my questions.

It should be ok. Recruiter knows best.

I spoke to a recruiter and he wasn't sure. He said that I would have to go through meps to figure it out....which doesn't make sense at all. That's like Nancy Pelosi saying "we have to pass the bill for you to know what's in it"

Cuz correct me if I am wrong but if you are going through meps you have already signed a contract to whichever branch you happen to chose.

Yes you are right. You need to talk to a navy medical programs recruiter. They would know for sure. But I was in navy medical department for a career and had a corpsman working for me who was color blind on certain colors. But he still made it onto a seal team as s corpsman.
