What are foothills? (geographical terms)
Foothills are low hills found at the base of a mountain or a mountain range. These foothills are a transition zone in between low relief hills and plains to the contiguous topographically lofty mountains.
Big hills that are below a mountain, or mountain range.
Foothills are the slope at the base of a mountain where it's steeper than the flat ground but not as steep as the mountain.
