Why does your body act as an antenna when you stand in front of the tv or touch the antenna?

a have a converter box, and for the most part get all my channels pretty clearly; however, when the picture starts messing up and i stand right in front of the tv the picture clears up, or if i touch the "rabbit ears" antenna. is there a clue to getting a clear picture there?

Your body has a slight electric charge to it, and the salt and water in your body are excellent conductors of electricity.
