Has a mechanic ever died while working underneath a car?

I was just wondering because I think I might want to be a mechanic. What I mean is like when they use that thingy(I forgot what it's called) to make the car go up so it's easier to work on its underside, has it ever gotten lose or something and crushed the mechanic? This might be a stupid question but I really want to know.

They use the tools correctly and always maintain their equipment to keep fatalities to a minimum.

Don't let that scare you. If you take proper measures you'll be pretty safe under a car.
