Women are very oppressed in Saudi Arabia, they are not allowed to do a lot of things that men can do and are punished severely if they break the rules. Driving is just one example of the brutal sexism there.

because there is a Religious government ruling and also women there seems to be a property for men! and it is awful but right know women of arabia must be thank full because in the past when a girl was born they were buried her alive!
Because women have different rights than they do in America. It's more severe in the Middle East, but think about it. We still haven't had a women president in America, and most times, women are just see as sexual objects. The law may say that we are equal, but we really aren't.

Please! Wake up and show a smidgin of awareness regarding equality as it is used in the Constitution. "all men are created equal" referres to "equal justice under the law". Women have the same rights as men. The United States is the land of opportunity not the land of guarantees. There never was and there will never be a guarantee of equal outcome because of limiting factors such as intellectual and physical abilities. I was a star athlete in high school and college but I was too small and too slow to play pro ball. I was disappointed but I never for one moment felt like I was being discriminated against or that I wasn't treated equally. the site below will give you a good perspective looking back on where we came from that you were never taught in history class.///////////// http://medicolegal.tripod.com/lincolnpeoria.htm#rep-platform-1860
Saudi Arabia is dominated by Islam, and under Islamic teaching, women are the property of their closest male relative, whether they be their father, brother, or husband. As a result, woman have no real rights, and can be killed at will for just about anything, and the murderer would have essentially no penalty ensue. Yes, we all know this isn't right, but we can't exactly take it up with Mr "Great prophet", because that warmongering human piece of garbage has been dead for a very long time.
I live in the UAE witch is a neighboring country to Saudi Arabia and from what I know about their culture women don't have a lot of privileges. And they have to wheat black veils that cover their faces so maybe that might be a safety issue.
