Why is my cat sneezing

It has been 3 days now. I have 2 cats who have been only indoors for 5 years. They have recently been exposed to an outdoor cat.

Allergy to dryer sheets. It is a serious allergy for a cat.

Really? Hadn't heard of that one. Then again I don't use them or dryer much..lol!
What can it do to them?

Wittipier, Bounce dryer sheets was the cause of death for one of my very old cats. It took so long for me to figure out what was wrong with him. I have a new cat now. I bought some fragrance-free dryer sheets and the new cat kept sneezing and sneezing. I Re-washed the bedding and tossed the dryer sheets. The sneezing, drooling, and the runny eyes went away within a few hours.

Wow, definitly cause and effect there! Considering they actually work to help
keep mosquitos from bitiing by rubbing them on you... not really surprised,
And the reason I never use them even when use a dryer is they make me Itch and sneeze! Thought it was just a case of my over-active allergies.. Maybe not?
A lot of these added scents, disinfectants and overkill cleaning supplies are really hurting our animals and kids I believe. Don't know if you've noticed I'm always pushing the many ways to use Vinegar and Baking Soda as cleaners..
Glad you figured it out before the Cats were hurt more!

Wow! I am going to toss all my dryer sheets as soon as I send this. The timing is the perfect answer. I have been using dryer balls, but decided I wanted a little bit of scent for my sheets and pillowcases. The sneezing does seem to be worse when the cats are in the bedroom! My hubby was even complaining about itching the first night that the clean sheets were put on the bed. Thanks for this perfect answer!

How nice to get this kind of a comment. Hope everybody stops itching and sneezing soon. Vinegar (cheap white) in the final rinse works best.

Whenever you've got a sneezing cat, chances are that the cat has an upper respiratory infection. These infections are more common in kittens and juveniles, much like in humans, especially those from animal shelters. Talk to your vet about this for tests and proper diagnosis. Read on from pets.webmd.com/cats/why-cats-sneeze.
