What are some tips for clear skin?

I have dry skin and I seem to break out when I use new cleansers.

Report as

Use natural, unscented face washes or make your own, which is always the best and easy to do.
Drink lots of water, it'll keep your skin hydrated and eat lots of fruits.

Moisturize! Get a natural cleanser, like one from Burt's Bees or Alba, and a moisturizer is very important to having clear skin as well. DON"T PICK

Deja vu. Was just talking about this. Are you in a dryer area? Higher elevation? Because the cleansers dry your skin, and if it is already dry, that causes break-outs, try a moisturizer.

I use sea breeze. It's a blue liquid in a clear bottle. It's for skin and I find it very good. It gets all the oil off and I rarely ever get zits when using it. You put it on a disposable small cotton wipe/pad and then clean your face with it. Not eyes do not get it in your eyes if you use it.

I just got done reading a few reviews about Sea Breeze as I too struggle with acne. I may just go out and buy myself a bottle. I usually use Aveeno lotion and Witch Hazel. Thanks for your recommendation!

If new cleansers make your skin break out, stick with one that doesn't! If you wear make-up, wash your face before bed & use a hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic moisturizer at night. Always drink a lot of water -- 8 glasses per day, especially because your skin is dry.
Almay has good, low-cost skin care products & make-up. The entire Almay line is made for sensitive skin. If you haven't tried it yet, get one of Almay's cleansers & a moisturizer. If they're easy on your skin, use their entire line of skin products... :)

don't use anything that has oils, and wash your hair good. if you don't wash your hair when you sweat all the oils well run down your face and give you more acne. and things like make up clogs up your pores and leaving dirt.

everything they said, but the only thing that worked for me was no salt. hard to do, but when you gotta have it, use organic sea salt. you might have to learn how to cook. it's worth it, i promise. i don't even wash my face anymore. skin food moisturizer from Vitamin Cottage, that's it!!! my acne was extremely bad before. (FYI)... be patient. nobody's perfect.

The face is the cleanest part of your body so unless you get it muddy you should not have to use any kind of soap or cleanser on it. Pores are flexible and expand when splashed with warm water. They contract when splashed with cold water. When expanded the dirt and oil is loosened and most gets washed away by the cold water as the pores close up. Always tamp dry with a clean towel. Avoid touching face and it stays clean.

I know this is hard, but try to cut the sugar, salt, and fat. Drink tons of water and wash your face daily with an unscented, hypoallergenic, natural soap. Use a moisturizer that is hypoallergenic and natural as well. Hope this helps!

Drink lot's of water. If you have dark spots, apply some honey and lemon to your face and rinse after 5 mins. Or apply onion. But it may burn your eyes.

Hi, se1733. I'm going to tell you a little family secret that's been handed down now through 4 generations. Now most people will gasp at such an idea, but it started with my great-grandmother who was known for her beautiful, radiant skin. Then the same for my grandmother, mother, and now people tell me the same and I'm 54. I rarely wear make-up and just the other day, an Avon rep guessed my age to be 42! I just about died laughing! But here is our regimen: we wash our faces in the morning and at night before we go to bed with Palmolive soap and rinse it completely with cold water. Then we apply Ponds Cold Cream (both times). Period. That's our big secret. No fancy brands of anything. When my great-grandmother died at the age of 99-1/2, her skin was flawless. My grandmother, if she makes it until her next birthday in May, will be 99 and HER skin is flawless...same thing with my 80-year old mother. Let the record speak for itself! LOL!!!

Have lots of fruits and vegetables first up. Cut sugars. And avoid oily stuff to eat even though your skin is oily. steer clear from fried stuff . Now, when it comes to cleansing, take a cleanser that has glycerin in it. Sprinkle warm water on face to open the pores and gently massage the cleanser till it lathers(make sure its organic) and keep massagin with finger tips. Then again wash with warm water only. Now take some sugar with water and massage all over the face, the sugar will act as exfoliant. Then wash off and squeeze some lemon on to your palms and rub lightly over face. Wash off after 10 seconds. If it burns wash off after 3 seconds. this acts as a toner. Now wash off with cold water to close the pores. Pat dry with a soft towel and apply moisturiser meant for dry skin. You can apply it 2 to 3 times a day because I understand dry skin. and drink plenty of water throughout the day to remove toxins and keep skin glowing. Repeat this for a week, and mostly your condition should improve! Remember eat healthy and drink loads of water. Hope it helped, thanks :)

If you want to do it naturally, scrub with a mixture of one tablespoon of salt and a teaspoon of water every morning. Drink at least 5 glasses of water daily, and try not to eat anything with lots of sugar in it.

Water helps the body very much it cleanses it. I used to have acne really bad then I started using clearasil. I also use clinque moisturizer it's a peachy kinda color it's good to have a moisturizer if you have dry skin. ALSO what you eat takes a big part in this. Remember strawberries is super good for the skin!

Wash your pillowcase! This may not seem like an obvious solution, but your pillowcase greatly affects the amount of breaking out your face does.

Gently wash face with dove soap/ ivory soap. Don't pick or pop zits/or blackheads that leaves scars. Sleep and eat well. Stop sugars, junk food. You can have these but not too much. Keep hands away from face. Eat veggies /( fruits should replace your sugar). Drink water, if your lips feel dry drink some water. Put honey on your face then rinse makes it soft. If you have a pimple try a little white toothpaste on it. It works for me

Young Living's Lavender essential oil works well for my teenage daughter, who has some very resistant acne. It can be drying (because essential oils are not fatty oils) so my daughter does best applying every other day or if needed every day, alternating the use of a fatty carrier oil like coconut oil with Lavender mixed in. YL's RC works well for my husband.

I have dry skin also, I also have acne but, that because im a middle schooler yeah you know puberty? lol but seriously at night I treat my dry skin then acne in the morning because at night you want to use a little bit more of products. So I use Avon completely clean soothing cleansing lotion for sensitive skin. its treats your dry skin and makes your face soft. To moisturize, I use pond`s dry skin cream. It treats it and smells good

Most of the time its your hormones that create zits, or pimples. By eating healthy foods you can keep your hormones stable for the most part, and stress affects hormones too, so just relax, eat well, and have good hygiene.

@TwinyMom13, learnt a great deal from your response. Are there specific foods that help the hormones to function healthily and normally? Or does it all just boil down to a balanced healthy diet like you have noted?

I sometimes struggle with acne but I use organic coconut oil as a daily moisturizer and when i do get zits put a tiny bit of triple antibiotic ointment (neosporin) on it. its the stuff you would put on a cut or scrape and it helps to heal it faster. Everyone who i have recommended this to says it works great!
